Troop 62 held there Fall Court of Honor on Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Chewsville Community Center. Congratulations to the scouts who earned merit badges and those who earned their next rank advancement. Many thanks to the leaders and parents who give of their time to volunteer in attending events with the scouts. If it weren't for the many active leaders and parents, Troop 62 would not be able to function! BIG THANKS to our Scoutmaster for the planning and preparation that goes into each event and meeting. Special THANKS to the Chewsville Lions Club for the support they give our Troop faithfully.

Scouting for Food
Scouting for Food was a HUGE success this year!! Thanks to the community who set out bags of food for the scouts to collect! A BIG THANKS to the 19 scouts and 11 adults who weathered the snowy weather and slushy streets to come out and collect the food. Scouts collected the food and took it to the local food bank. Approximately 90 plastic grocery bags of food were collected!

Troop 62 has been BUSY!
Troop 62 scouts have been busy serving others!
During September, a few scouts helped clean-up the Antietam Creek. These scouts pulled trash out of the creek as well as along the creek's edge. Lots of hard, wet work for these scouts.
A few scouts assisted the Chewsville Lions Club (Troop 62's Charter organization) in working their concession stand during Mack Truck's Open House!
Scouts also assisted the Chewsville Lions Club in setting up for their annual Yard Sale. Scouts set up tables and canopy's as well as setting items out for customers to purchase.
Many scouts assisted the Troop in the Popcorn Show and Sell Fundraiser at the Smithsburg Steam and Craft Show.
Many thanks to all the scouts who assisted and served others during September.

Sinoquipe 2011
What a FABULOUS week at CAMP SINOQUIPE! Troop 62 earned 87 merit badges while at camp along with 17 partial merit badges. Many of the partial's only have one or two requirements to complete before being finished! Every Scout earned at least one merit badge, most earning at least 2 or more. We had one scout earn 6 Merit Badges and 2 of the 6 were Eagle Required! What amazing work! Congrats to our 6 First Year Campers on their accomplishments. Almost all of them completed all the requirements for Second Class Rank! WOW!!
We had 4 scouts (Jared Banzhoff, Josh Gladhill, Austin Lane and Josh Yoder) who attended summer camp for the 6th consecutive year! 2 scouts have attended for 5 years while 3 scouts have attended Sinoquipe for 4 years. What dedicated scouts we have in our Troop!
Many thanks to the dedicated leaders that spent the whole week with the scouts. Thanks to Doug Leas, Sam Morrison, Gary Wachter and Rob Storer for their volunteer time with our scouts!
We look forward to rewarding our scouts at the August Court of Honor!
