Memorial Day Ceremony

Troop 62 attended the Memorial Day Ceremony for the town of Smithsburg on Wednesday, May 30th 2012.  CMSGT Roland E. Shambaugh Jr. USAF spoke about his service and reflected on the service of men and women in the military both past and present.  Take time to thank our service men and women for allowing us freedom.
Our scouts assisted in passing out the programs prior to the ceremony.  Three of our scouts participated in playing the Star Spangled Banner with the Smithsburg High School Band.  Scouts also assisted in folding up the chairs following the ceremony.
Many thanks to all the scouts who assisted with the ceremony and to all the leaders and parents who were there to support our scouts.

Spring Camporee

Troop 62 participated in the Spring Camporee with the Mason Dixon Council which was held at the Hagerstown City Park.  Scouts camped near the Hager House.  During the day on Saturday, May 5, 2012, scouts assisted in service projects around the park.  There were lots of activities for the scouts throughout the park as well.  Scouts also had the opportunity to work on rank advancements which included working on their cooking requirements.  Scouts also enjoyed listening to the Smithsburg High School Jazz Ensemble as a part of Jazz in the Park at the band shell on Saturday night.
